Most of the livelihoods of farmers in Karangasem Regency are coconut tree plantations. Because with coconut trees, Balinese people can use them as the main means of worship, besides that, coconut palm wine can also be used as an ingredient for alcoholic drinks. Alcoholic drinks in Bali are called Arak, the process of this drink is a natural fermentation of coconut palm wine, Jaka, Lontar which is then processed by distillation.
Arak in religious ceremonies in Bali, is used for offerings to Bhuta Kala or spirits of supernatural beings or ghosts, so that they do not disturb the real world of humans. In addition, Arak can also be used as an ingredient in medicine, cooking, and party events.
